It’s been a while since I was the person in charge of developing a payment processing system. This time it turned out quite insane. We took over a project to redevelop a WordPress site. It had WooCommerce along with Stripe. For starters there is really no customer service. Stripe will turn you to WooCommerce and WooCommerce will make you spin around with bots then turn you back to Stripe. There are a lot of problems with WooCommerce and Stripe’s business practices. The nature of opensource software is that I can at least add to that plugin. I would develop or acquire an additional plugin to WooCommerce. It does already have a shopping cart and a lot of functionality that I don’t want to recreate. I will still need a merchant account and a payment gateway though so, I have to find a different solution.
I remembered Authorize.net and Chase Payment tech and that I already have code that uses and communicates with their API’s. I remember that I’m knee deep in the cryptocurrency industry and took a turn away from traditional banking for a reason, because they want to control money and no one should control money. Just like no one should control the world. We’re smart enough to make collective decision for the greater good. But before I commit to using either one of those platforms, I’ve decided to do some research and find out what traditional Payment Card Industry has been up to.
