I tried Claude code. Over the weekend I decided to take another crack into the Artificial intelligence space and find something that could write applications. Every since a little tutorial made Codium useful. That’s what I was going for. “Something that could write applications”. I was getting bogged down again with some tedious coding and development task. I decided to put some time into figuring out if there was anything out there that could speed up the process. I questioned and wondered were we really there yet, how far have we come. We’re not. The process took me down a rabbit hole only to realize I don’t know what this could cost me. I stopped going down the rabbit whole. I got to the point where I installed everything I need to test out Claude code. That is, I had to get a complete standalone computer and install all the software I needed since it, Claude, doesn’t work on Windows machines.
When I finally got Claude installed and running I quickly ran into a pay wall: All I asked it to do was tell me a about a web application, WordPress. The answer I was simple looking for was WordPress. Maybe I did something wrong but it doesn’t look like Claude is ready yet. I wanted it to work so badly though. I’d love to be part of the development process of an Artificial Intelligence that could truly build and application though.
Now I wonder other things, like do the major companies in the world truly want individuals to be able to build anything they want? I think what really irritates me is how easy the video made it seem. Also the fact that they took down my comment on their YouTube Channel. Maybe I’ll give it another try but for now, I think I’ll put on the back shelf because the pay model is too vague.
