Amazon is by no means the worse offender of this trend but computer up-selling me have always been my core reason for taking great care when deciding where and when a human should handle an interaction or a computer. As a software engineer I’ve been asked by customer to create experiences that I don’t want. If we let computer replace customer service and sales personnel don’t be surprised when all you interact with is a computer. I don’t want to interact with computers. I don’t talk to computer. I have no emotional attachment to a computer. Computers were suppose to make our lives simpler and when you use to make people lives harder they don’t want to deal with it.
